  • Keep your work wardrobe clean and pressed and your shoes polished so you’re less inclined to shop for new.
  • Buy at least one “cheater meal” when grocery shopping for a day you would be tempted to eat out.
  • Pick up pennies on the street to remind yourself that every effort counts.
  • Give 25% of your “stuff” away to charity. Separating out the junk well help you admire the gems.
  • Before tossing anything, do a mini-brainstorm as to how you can repurpose it.
  • Re-evaluate any projects you are planning that require spending to determine their necessity.
  • Stay home one weekend a month.

What tips do you have to save money?

Instead of eating out, have a “junk food” night. Guiltlessly indulge in canned ravioli, corn dogs, or whatever you crave knowing that it was cheaper (and probably fewer calories) than a restaurant meal.

Maria, definitely! I used to feel guilty about my favorite “gourmet” frozen pizzas until I realized that $8 for two people was still a very frugal alternative to any restaurant or delivery food.
